Are you living someone else’s life?

Go your own way! Do your own thing!  We hear these statements all the time.  They mean that we  choose to change and do something or be someone without regard for others.  This is not what we will talk about here.

This blog is about knowing who you are deep inside and living your life accordingly.  Many of us haven’t really chosen what we will do with our lives.  We take over the family business, take courses in school cuz our parents want us to, or simply don’t make waves by doing something new.

How can you tell if you are living your own life?  Simply ask yourself:  How do I really want to live my life?  Then sit quiet and listen to the answer.  You may be surprised at the answer.  I love to ask my clients : If your life had absolutely NO restrictions (money, time, health, abilities, etc), what would you do with you life?  It is interesting to note that those whose answer is most like their current life, are the ones that have the most inner peace.

This is not a post to give you license to rebel, or disregard morals, or break family tradition.  The goal should be to become aware of what that little voice inside is trying to tell you.  Then trying to make decisions that will closer align your life with that voice.

There are times when even our inner voice is unclear.  This is not uncommon in our society.  We are pushed hard to do things quickly and without thinking and to fill our lives with noise.  This can have the tendency to train our inner voice to be quiet.   if you find this to be the case, you may need to re-train it.  This is not as difficult as it sounds.  A future post will discuss this.

In the meantime,  spend some time with your inner self and see what wonderful things it has in store for your future.  Find inner peace and contentment!
